A Rambling Blog About A Potter And Pots
Awa Sachio started his pottery studies in Shigaraki in the early 1970s before moving on and studying in Tamba after which he set up his own studio and kiln in 1977. Though I have seen only a couple of his pieces in person, there is lots to survey across the internet showing his focused dedication to temmoku and yuteki-temmoku, simple in concept and execution which just speaks to the subtle complexities of the surfaces, inviting and quite comforting.
